To access the space, you will find a smart lock on the front door of the apartment. Prior to your check-in time, you will receive a unique code that will grant you entry. No need to worry about keys or coordinating pick-up times—simply enter the code and step into your home away from home.
The smart lock provides a secure and hassle-free way to access the space, giving you the freedom to arrive at your convenience. It's just one of the many modern amenities we offer to enhance your stay and make you feel right at home.

Getting Here
Nearest airports: BWI and PHL; if you are coming in the summer on a weekend, it is best to avoid the Chesapeake Bay Bridge so fly into Philly
Uber is not readly available so renting a car is best from the airport.

A $25 gift card is included with each stay so you can have breakfast with us at the Modern Stone Age Kitchen.
For those of you staying on a Saturday night, we currently are not open on Sundays (we will be later this spring) so we will provide you some items for breakfast upon check-in.
We have also provided you all with a gourmet coffee bar so you can fix your caffeine how you'd like. There are beans of our exclusive Rise Up Costa Rica "Drink Like a Human" coffee for you to try!

Modern Stone Age Sanctuary Accommodation Cancellation Policy
At the Modern Stone Age Sanctuary, we strive to provide a peaceful and rejuvenating experience for all our guests. With only one exclusive accommodation available, your booking is unique and highly valued. Due to the limited nature of our accommodations and the preparation required for each guest, we have implemented the following cancellation policy:

Cancellation by Guest:
Notice Given 14 Days or More Before Arrival Date: If you need to cancel your reservation, please notify us at least 14 days before your scheduled arrival date. We will make every effort to refill your spot. If we are able to do so, you will receive a full refund.
Notice Given Less Than 14 Days Before Arrival Date: Cancellations made less than 14 days before the scheduled arrival date are not eligible for a refund unless we are able to refill your spot. If the spot is filled, you will receive a full refund.
Cancellation by Modern Stone Age Sanctuary:
In the rare event that we need to cancel your reservation, you will be notified as soon as possible, and you will receive a full refund or the option to reschedule your stay for another date of equal value.
Non-Profit Considerations:
As a non-profit organization, the Modern Stone Age Sanctuary relies on your support and understanding. Your participation helps us continue our mission of providing a nurturing and educational environment for our community.

After spending 20 years in public education as a teacher and administrator, Christina Schindler has embarked on a business venture with her family as the CEO of the Modern Stone Age Kitchen, a restaurant in Chestertown, MD that optimizes nutrition in modern foods through ancestral techniques to create healthy food for the community. Christina also serves as President of the Eastern Shore Food Lab, a non-profit that is focused on creating a nourishing, ethical and sustainable food system through education, outreach and research. Most importantly, Christina is a mother of three busy young-adults and Dr. Bill Schindler's high-tech other half.

Bill is a food archaeologist, primitive technologist and chef. He travels the world with his family documenting traditional food ways and works to draw inspiration from the deep archaeological record, rich and diverse ethnographic record and modern culinary world to create food solutions that are relevant, meaningful and accessible in our modern lives. He shares all these stories in his book, Eat Like a Human, and puts the recipes into practice at his family's Modern Stone Age Kitchen in Chestertown, Maryland.
